Getting to know you

TT catches up with folks at Le Sport—the topic of conversation? Why they keep coming back year after year.

Jean Rodriquez and Lissa Colon from Puerto Rico were shopping around in the Vendors Arcade

TT:Is this your first time in St Lucia?
Jean:Yeah this is my first time and for sure it's not my last!

TT: What do you think about the Island?
Jean:It's beautiful I like it very much. I really do.

TT: What made you decide to come to St Lucia?
Jean:I'd always wanted to come on a Caribbean vacation but I really couldn't decide which island to go to, they're all really beautiful. So we decided to go on a Caribbean cruise. That way we could take in as many islands as possible and in between, we could enjoy the sunshine right from the ship. It's great.

TT:What other destinations have you been to on the cruise ship?
Jean:We've been to Barbados, St Thomas, and Dominica. We've been to some others but I can't really remember right now.

TT: How does St Lucia compare to the other islands?
Jean: I like it, the people are more affective here. I like the casual, laid back feel of the island.

Olga King and Sandra Paris from the US were at a local souvenir shop in Castries

TT:Would you tell your friends to come to St Lucia?
Jean:Yes I definitely would get my friends to come over here because I just love the island and I know that they would too.

TT:Is this your first time in St Lucia?
Olga:
No this is my second time here.

TT:When was your first time?
Olga:
About ten years ago, I stayed up in the resort area, one of the hotels up there, I liked it but I can't remember the name.

TT:
Did you get a chance to do some sightseeing?
Olga::Yes I did, I went up to the drive in volcano in Soufriere; I went to see the fishing village; and I went to the boutiques and the Friday night jump up in Gros Islet. Now you're asking me all these questions but it was ten years ago. I can't remember what I did yesterday!

TT:Have you tried the local food?
Olga::When I was here I did try something, if you want to call red snapper a local dish. I had red snapper. I have a West Indian background but I'm not too crazy about West Indian food.

TT:Would you advise someone to come to St Lucia?
Sandra::Yeah. It was one of the stops for the cruise we came on so that's why we're here. It's a nice island.

Ann and John Godfrey from Montreal Canada were at Caribbean Treasures searching for island souvenirs

TT:Is this your first time in St Lucia?
Ann:No it's actually our second time.

TT:When was the last time you came here?
Ann:
I think it was in 2002 we were here for our cruise vacation.

TT:What do you think about St Lucia?
John:
It's very nice that's for sure, beautiful. We had quite a tour the first time we were here.

TT:Where'd you go on the tour?
Ann:We went down to Soufriere, through the countryside, we went to the Sulphur Springs

.

TT:Have you had the chance to sample the local food in St Lucia?
Ann:
Unfortunately we haven't yet but we'd like to.

TT:What's your favorite thing about the island?
Ann:
There's no question about it, it's just a beautiful, beautiful island.

John:The island is so lush and so green and everything. It's vastly different from where we're from especially at this time of year. It was snowing when we left so this is a good change.
