Charthouse Maintains Tradition in Steak and Seafood Specialties

Sometimes simple recipes for success are the best

Nick Ashworth has every good reason to be proud of his Charthouse Restaurant. Situated at Rodney Bay (it can be approached by land and by water, depending on your romantic inclinations!) the Charthouse is especially famous locally for its fresh fish and mouth watering char-grilled steaks. Its lobsters (when in season) are worth dying for. Oh, and they say the beer at the Charthouse is the coldest in the world!

Charthouse has a unique bar that features happy hour everyday, starting at 5 pm, except Sunday when the restaurant is closed. Charthouse is the only place in town that has barbecued baby back ribs.Oh yes, Nick is deservedly proud of the Charthouse service. Come out and sample it for yourself! “The food is fresh and the meals are delicious,” FODOR GUIDE.

UPDATE:
Charthouse is still at the same location on the marina front and still specializes in char-grilled steaks, fresh fish, lobster (when in season), and although may not have the island’s only barbequed baby-back ribs, has an established reputation for the best. Open for dinner only call 452-8115 for details and/or reservations.

Excellent Cantonese Cuisine
at Memories of Hong Kong

Memories of Hong Kong, opened just a few months ago, has quickly earned a reputation for its exquisite Cantonese cuisine. Located in Marisule on the Castries/Gros Islet Highway, this simply decorated restaurant needs absolutely no frills. The food is simply fabulous. Veteran chef, Yee Leung, had been putting his extraordinary skills to the kitchen test for fourteen years in London. After visiting St Lucia, however, he decided to pull up roots and transplant his operation to our island paradise. He has now turned more to the overall managerial aspect of the business, but has placed another experienced and highly competent Chinese chef in the kitchen, which by the way is open for viewing.

Memories of Hong Kong does not offer Cantonese cooking exclusively but also features South Asian, Szechwan and European gastronomical delights. No matter your preference the extensive menu is sure to have something to your liking. The listed appetizers are so tempting it’s hard to choose between the satay or the variety of spare ribs. But to truly feast try the crisp aromatic duck! The main course is extremely varied. Crispy shredded beef with garlic and chili is a fantastic dish with a bit of spice. Prawns in bird’s nest is another excellent selection as is crispy chicken in lemon sauce.

UPDATE:
Memories is now conveniently located within the humming restaurant row of Rodney Bay. Yee has moved on, opening a smaller establishment nearby, Dumy’s, leaving Memories in the more than capable hands of cousin, Chef Billy. The food is premier Chinese and many international patrons have noted it as “the best Chinese they have had anywhere!” The crispy shredded beef and crispy duck are still favorites and are available either a la carte or on the set menus available for the economic minded. Open for dinner only, call for reservations or take out orders,452-8218.
