A doggish proposal
Did this couple marry for love or for the dog’s sake?
The ultra romantic
resort of Ti Kaye Village overlooking the blue waters of
the Caribbean Sea was the location for the late afternoon
wedding of Eugenia Renee Watson and Daniel Coates of Maryland
in the US. The hotel, on the west coast of St Lucia was
the perfect backdrop for the couple’s ceremony, which
could only be described as breathtaking. The bride was stunningly
dressed in a sleeveless floor sweeping cream gown with gold
detailing, and her bouquet was a collection of colorful
tropical flowers. The groom stood waiting with his best
man Willie Ford, as Eugenia elegantly made her way towards
him. The lovebirds met one fateful day while walking through
their local mall in Maryland. “We met at the mall.
He came up to me and asked me for my phone number. I was
like wow, he's tall! It wasn’t until after we really
started talking and getting to know each other that I realized
what a wonderful person he is,” Eugenia said laughingly.
And, for Daniel it was all about the looks, “Ok, I’ll
be superficial and state the obvious. She was beautiful
and had a great body. I was in the mall and she looked good,
so I approached her.”
The couple dated for almost a year before
Daniel popped that all-important question. The two were
having dinner at home when the groom bent down on one knee
and asked Eugenia to be his forever. Daniel recalled the
moment, “Well, Eugenia made dinner and I had a dog
at the time. We had a running joke that the dog had no mother
and I was the father. I got down on one knee during dinner
and told her how extraordinary she was and asked her to
marry me. After that, I looked at the dog and said that
I finally got you a mom.” After receiving this “doggish”
proposal, how did Eugenia react? “I was elated! I
cried and I was so happy. The moment was everything I thought
it would be,” the bride said.
With tears in her eyes, on that beautiful
Caribbean wedding day, the bride agreed to love and honor
her partner. The two sealed the union with many kisses as
they were showered with flower petals and then strolled
hand-in-hand on the white sand beach. The newlyweds choose
Ti Kaye Village Resort after seeing it on the internet.
“I stumbled upon Ti Kaye on the internet and I saw
some amazing pictures. I fell in love with it. I loved how
it was so secluded and it overlooks the ocean. So I thought
that Ti Kaye would be a perfect place to have our small,
intimate wedding,” explained Eugenia. The couple are
spending a week on the island and have taken full advantage
of the tropical paradise. “We have done so many tours.
We visited the rainforest, we did the land and sea tour.
Tomorrow we are going horseback riding and we will also
go whale watching before we leave the island,” said
Eugenia. The newlyweds are already planning to return to
the island and to Ti Kaye.
